Expertise and Experience in Refugee and Asylum Seeker Rights

Zari Hazan & Co. Law Offices has accumulated significant experience in the field of asylum seekers’ and refugees’ rights in Israel.

Our office fights for the rights of asylum seekers residing within the State of Israel and works towards regularizing their legal status as refugees.

The State of Israel has signed and ratified the International Convention on the Status of Refugees, which defines a refugee as someone who is unable or unwilling to return to their country of origin owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion.
(Article 1(2) of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, 65 UNTS).” (See HCJ 7146/12 **Naget Serg Adam v. The Knesset**, paragraph 7, published in Nevo 16.9.13).

Legal Achievements Against the Ministry of Interior

Our office has succeeded in court cases against the Ministry of Interior in delaying and even preventing the detention and holding of asylum seekers from Sudan, Eritrea, and Darfur in Holot, due to administrative failures in the detention process or other personal circumstances that justified preventing detention.

We Believe in a Holistic Approach

Our office has experience in filing administrative petitions in individual cases of asylum seekers who have been living in the country for years, and whom the state seeks to send to the open detention facility in Holot or back to their country of origin.

The detention of an asylum seeker in Israel and their transfer to the Holot facility not only disrupts the course of the asylum seeker’s life and work, on whom employers often depend, not only does it effectively prevent their freedom as it is a detention facility in every sense, but it is often done contrary to the law.

Commitment to Justice and Human Rights

Zari Hazan & Co. Law Offices is well-versed in refugee issues as discussed in the UN, in the various refugee conventions to which Israel is a signatory, and in the courses of action to be taken for asylum seekers in Israel. Additionally, our office accompanies the Darfur community in their struggle to receive refugee status in the State of Israel.

I want to thank from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my family Zari Hazan, an outstanding lawyer, and all the women in the office, his right hand, for the great success (precedent) he achieved for our family.

This comes after years of trying to act alone. We have now gained peace and tranquility.

Now we are waiting for the next win and precedent with another family member… Wishing all of us success 🙌 You succeeded once, we know it’s only a matter of time until the next success. Thank you so much 🙌🙌🙌🙌
