Obtaining Citizenship for Children of a Foreign Spouse Married to an Israeli Citizen
Many Israelis live together with, and are even married to, foreign spouses. In some cases, the foreign spouse has adult or minor children who are also foreign citizens, and therefore he/she wants their children to be with them in Israel. The foreign spouse and their children do not have an automatic right to receive status in Israel.
Application Process:
The process of arranging the status of the foreign spouse takes place at the Ministry of Interior, and it must be integrated with the process of arranging the status of the foreign spouse’s children. This is a special application submitted to the Ministry of Interior and its processing may take a long time.
It should be noted that the process of acquiring citizenship for children of foreign citizens is only possible when the couple, the Israeli and the foreigner, are married to each other. In addition to this primary condition, the applicant and their children must meet various requirements, including presenting approval from the other foreign parent for the transfer of the children to Israel.
